New releases for Porsche and McLaren

Whilst we shared a post about the new Porsche 911 GT3 when it was revealed yesterday, we just had to delve a little deeper, especially now that McLaren tried to steal its thunder not long after with the launch of the…author? arthur? – Artura, that’s the one.

Granted, the two cars are VERY different. The Porsche is the continuation of an icon and one of the brand’s most desirable variants, while the Artura is an entirely new model for McLaren. When I say entirely, it’s hard not to compare it to the previous models like the 570 or 640, its styling isn’t exactly groundbreaking. What is new however is its engine, a twin turbo V6 with an intelligent ‘e-motor’ attached to it, giving it 671 horsepower.

All of this new kit comes at a cost though, an eye-watering £185,000 – making the GT3 seem like the bargain of the century starting at £50,000 less!

Fall in love, thanks to your Tesla

Next we head in a very different direction. Being February, the month of love it’s natural we are all bombarded with love hearts and soppy messages, but one website with a niche caught our eye.

Do you own a Tesla? Looking for love? – Say hello to Tesladating.co – You guessed it, a dating site for Tesla owners. Whilst we aren’t sure if this is real or a wind-up, the site is looking for applicants right now with a genius tagline that reads:

“Because you can’t spell LOVE without EV”

F1’s return moves ever closer

Back to cars now, specifically really fast ones. F1 is gearing up for its 2021 season and the world waits full of anticipation to get a glimpse of the new cars. McLaren went first, revealing the MCL 35M on Monday. Both Lando and new arrival Danny Ricciardo look more ready than ever to earn points and bring the fight to Mercedes and Red Bull.

The first race of the 2021 season is set for 28th March in Bahrain, until then we will all patiently wait for Netflix to release season three of their ‘Drive to Survive’ series!

Facebook set to replicate Clubhouse app

You may have heard of the app Clubhouse, the invite-only audio social platform. It has seen a massive rise of late, going from 600,000 active users in December, to 2 million just over a month later.

Naturally, the big social media players don’t want some pesky app stealing their users, so in a move that will shock no one, Facebook are now reportedly developing their own version of the Clubhouse app. It’s in its very early stages at the moment, but they most definitely have the infrastructure in place, already offering a ‘video rooms’ section.

We will be keeping a close eye on this one!

Jaguar set to become fully electric by 2025

Lastly, iconic British brand Jaguar Land Rover have confirmed this week they will become fully electric by 2025.

The bold new strategy, labelled as ‘Reimagine’, sets to ensure the brand is carbon neutral by  2039 and will only sell EVs from 2025.

The two brands will be repositioned, with Jaguar becoming an electric-only firm and Land Rover retaining its off-road ethos but continuing its push upmarket. Land Rover will launch six EV variants within the next five years, one of them the first all-electric Land Rover, which is due in 2024.

Is this the end of an era, or the beginning of a new and improved JLR? Only time will tell with this one!
